Terrain Mastery: Tailoring Shocks for Mud, Rocks, and Snow

Adapting to diverse terrain requires more than just lift—shock tuning is key.

Mud: Soften compression (3/8) and rebound (4/8) to let the wheels sink and grip, while HPR’s foam cell technology prevents mud from clogging the reservoir. Perfect for a Ford F-150 Raptor slogging through boggy trails.

Rocks: Stiffen compression (7/8) to limit suspension travel and protect undercarriage, while rebound (6/8) keeps tires planted on ledges. Pair with our F-150 rock sliders for full protection.

Snow: Reduce nitrogen pressure to 0.6MPa (via HPR’s adjustable valve) to improve fluid flow in sub-zero temps; set both compression/rebound to 5/8 for balanced control on ice.

Each adjustment works with HPR’s thermal management system, which uses a finned reservoir to dissipate heat even in powdery snow. Our shocks for the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro have been tested in -40°C Alaskan winters—proven to outperform OEM units by 3x.
